What this is

The Notice is the free letter from Opening Notice. It is weekly, and it lives here as a page. It is not the paid list of applications.

The list is dated premises licence applications: new versus transfer, a council page you can open, and, when you take Founding National, a way to verify and export by place. That layer is £99 a month, locked. This letter does not reprint those rows.

Which date you are reading

Under the Licensing Act 2003 a premises licence application is a public document on a licensing authority’s site. That page often shows more than one date.

One kind of date is when the application was made, received, or granted. Another is the last day for representations or objections. Councils label those fields in different ways: Closing Date, Last Date for Representations, Last Date for Objection, and similar.

If you sell food and drink into new rooms, those are not the same job. The application date tells you when the paper entered the public file. The representation deadline tells you how long neighbours and responsible authorities have to speak. A deadline without an application date is not enough to treat a room as dated.

New grant versus transfer still matters once you have a real application date. A new grant is a licence that is not already there. A transfer moves an existing licence. Both are public. They are not the same job. The short version is New grant or transfer.

How to read the field

Use the same check as How to check a notice on the council site, then pause on the date line.

1. Open the council page.
2. Find the field that names the application, grant, received, or applied-on date.
3. If the only date is a Closing Date or a Last Date for Representations, you do not yet have an application date.
4. Read new grant versus transfer on that same page.
5. If the page has moved, use the council’s own licensing search. The authority is the source.

We do not invent an application date from a representation window. If a council list only prints a closing date, it is not a dated keep for our file.

One sourced case, real application date

We still only date pairs we can open. Not a sample. Not an average.

Domus, Bristol: new grant dated 14 August 2026 on the Bristol grants register; Bristol Post story 28 August 2026. Fourteen days. That grant date is an application date on the council paper, not a closing-date field.

Shah’s, Reading is the same method: licence dated 12 August 2026; announcement 21 August 2026. Nine days. Two pairs. Not a typical lead time.

Coverage

As of 17 September 2026 the live file holds 33 applications across 13 councils. Last retrieved 15 September 2026. The councils are Bolton, Bristol, Camden, Charnwood, City of London, Cornwall, Croydon, Derby, Dudley, Kensington and Chelsea, Reading, Rother, and Wealden.

Four of those are London: Camden, City of London, Croydon, and Kensington and Chelsea. The goal is all 33 London authorities. We add a borough only when a dated public list exists. We do not invent a national completion date. If a licensing authority is not on that list, it is not in the product.
