Opening Notice

Premises licence applications

The licence usually lands before the local paper

A premises licence application is a public notice. A press story comes later.

Most of the files sold into foodservice are built from announcements: a trade title, a local paper, a supplier note, an operator’s own site. That is useful. It is also late. People who watch licensing already had a date and a page.

Opening Notice is that earlier layer. We list premises licence applications. You open the council site and read the notice. We do not rewrite it as a lead.

One case, stated as a case

Shah’s in Reading had a licence dated 12 August 2026. On 21 August the Reading Chronicle and the operator’s own site announced the opening. That is nine days. It is one case. It is not an average, not a typical lead time, and not a forecast.

Keep an announced list for news. This is the applications from before the announcement.

Read the dated note and how to check a notice.
